Suspect Arrested in Nongprue for Allegedly Posing as Police, Assaulting and Robbing Victim

CHONBURI, Thailand – On May 19th, 2025, at 1:00 PM, police from Nongprue Police Station arrested a suspect involved in a violent incident where three men, posing as police officers, assaulted and robbed a 32-year-old man, Weerapol Kampangthong, as we reported here at TPN Media earlier in the day.

The operation was led by Deputy Superintendent Thanaw Wiseschai and Investigation Chief Suphat Sudsong, following Weerapol’s complaint to Lieutenant Siriyaporn Kongphetsak. He reported being detained, beaten, and threatened with a firearm by three men wearing vests resembling police uniforms. The assailants forced him onto a motorcycle, searched his home, stole his mobile phone, and warned him against reporting the incident, threatening his life.

Acting on the complaint, police investigated a rental room in Soi Mab Yai Lia 8/1, where they found Theerasak Imyoo, 33, whose appearance matched the suspect’s description. Theerasak admitted to the crime. Inside the room, officers found Pitchayapa Sorathep, alias Mint, 18, who had lured Weerapol to the location. A search uncovered a black airsoft gun and Weerapol’s stolen phone.

During questioning, Theerasak claimed Weerapol had persistently contacted his girlfriend, Mint, and arranged to meet at the room where Theerasak and two accomplices, known as Beer and Bang Li, were present. He alleged Weerapol brought drugs to use with Mint. The group confronted Weerapol, locked the room, assaulted him, and used the airsoft gun to intimidate him.

They found drugs on Weerapol, which they consumed along with him, and took him to his home to search for more drugs, finding only a small amount. Theerasak denied posing as police, insisting the motive was anger over Weerapol’s advances toward Mint. He stated there was no prior acquaintance between the group and Weerapol, except through Mint.

Police detained Theerasak and Mint, seizing the airsoft gun and phone as evidence, and brought them to Nongprue Police Station for further investigation. The two accomplices, Beer and Bang Li, have fled, and police are pursuing them.

Authorities will also summon Weerapol for additional questioning, as statements from the suspect and victim conflict. Police vowed to investigate thoroughly, pursue legal action against those found guilty, and ensure justice for both parties.
