PATTAYA, Thailand – A violent altercation at a Chinese restaurant in Pattaya left one man injured in the early hours of May 26th, 2025. The incident occurred at a Chinese restaurant located along Pattaya Second Road.
At approximately 00:46 AM, Pol. Lt. Col. Suchart Dusadee, Deputy Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of an assault with injuries. He promptly informed Pol. Col. Anek Sratongyoo, the chief of Pattaya City Police Station, and dispatched a team of officers, alongside volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation, to the scene, accompanied by The Pattaya News team.
Upon arrival, authorities found Mr. Cheng Dong, a 40-year-old Chinese national, with a stab wound to his left ribcage. Rescue personnel provided immediate first aid before rushing him to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. At the scene, a group of Mr. Cheng’s friends had detained the suspect, identified as Mr. He, also a Chinese national, who appeared to be intoxicated. A fruit knife, believed to be the weapon used in the attack, was recovered as evidence.
The incident took place on the fifth floor of the restaurant, in a dining room, where signs of a struggle were evident, with bloodstains found on the floor and walls. According to a restaurant waiter, whose name was withheld by request, the victim and his group were dining and drinking inside the room when the suspect, whose origins were unclear, suddenly entered and attacked Mr. Cheng with the knife. The waiter, unaware of any prior conflict, immediately alerted the police.
Friends of the victim stated that Mr. Cheng did not know the suspect. They reported that Mr. He, who appeared heavily intoxicated, entered the room uninvited. When Mr. Cheng verbally reprimanded him with offensive language and told him to leave, saying, “You’re so drunk you’ve stumbled into the wrong room, get out,” Mr. He became enraged and stabbed the victim.
Pol. Sub-Lt. Wuttinan Khongdee, an investigator from Pattaya City Police Station, along with a detective team, is currently reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation to ensure legal proceedings are followed.
