Golf in the Pattaya area is the finest and cheapest anywhere in the world. There are twenty courses available within about 75 minutes of Pattaya and nearly all are wonderful value for money from about 900 baht (green and caddy fee) to the magnificent Laem Chabang and St. Andrews Hill courses at 2500 baht. The course guide here is a good guide but the prices are going up at the moment and we shall update it when we get the information.

The IPGC Pattaya Golf Society is Pattaya’s oldest and friendliest golf society. It was set up about seventeen years ago by a number of keen local ex-pat golfers. It is now one of four major golf groups affiliated to the IPGC. Our tournaments are open to all members, providing we can see proof of an official handicap. This can be a card from a home club or even a printout of the last twenty rounds, available from handicap secretaries. It is therefore essential for people to join the International Pattaya Golf Club (IPGC) to get full value. Membership costs 400 baht (one year), 500 baht (two years) or 1000 baht (five years). Mr. Len at REB can arrange this for you and all you need to do is give him a small passport type photo and your name. Being a member, three competition cards will also put you on our IPGC handicap list which is updated every weekend. It is a good idea to bring proof of your current handicap with you, if you have one, and your home club will provide this free of charge. Competition is restricted to IPGC members only, in accordance with all the other IPGC groups, but new golfers wishing to establish a handicap may play three rounds in order to qualify.
Joining the IPGC gives a member the usual "Member's Guest" rate when playing in organised competitions. IPGC has approximately 2500 members, of which around 750 have joined via the PGS. During "High" season groups can be as large as forty-fifty players, but generally in the region of twenty-five to thirty-five. Green fees, caddy fees and golf cart hire, if required, are paid at the course, not at the bar. Tipping one's caddy is discretionary but generally in the region of 150 - 200 baht. All you pay at the bar is the competition entry fee and transport fee, on the morning of the golf. All entry fees are paid out in prizes after the competition. Transport is by minibus or private vehicle. Golf carts are compulsory at Laem Chabang, Burapha, and St. Andrew's 2000.
Rates are more expensive at weekends and on Public Holidays, of which there are many in the Land of Smiles. The list opposite may help with your holiday/golf planning.

Rabbi's Elephant Bar is situated in busy Soi Buakhao, at the junction with Soi 21. A motor cycle taxi will cost only twenty baht from anywhere in central Pattaya. We play golf from REB on Saturdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. To join us all you have to do is sign up by the day before and then call around before 8:30am on the day and pay your competition entry fee of 200 baht. Transport is arranged and costs 250 baht. After the golf everyone meets back at the bar for the presentation at 6pm - 6:30pm.
